Architecture thesis

Kiribati is one of the smallest, poorest, lowest elevated island-nations in the world. They are facing a lot of economical, political and humanitarian problems and they have to deal with the effects of global warming and sea-level rise. After conducting an extensive research on the countries and the causes of their hardships, I designed a plan to the scale of the country to start anew, in a way that was mindful of the cultural tradition, and respectful of the environment. I didn’t produce much actual architectural designs, but my project took the shape of a comic-book, a guide for the population to spearhead the transformation of their country.

The Guide

Here are some exerpts of the guide. You can download the full 80-page book here.

The Model

As an example of the guide's principles applied, I built a model to help illustrate the strategy of the project. It was a mix of cardboard, wood and 3D-printed elements.
